First Post of The Year!

Happy 2017!! I personally love the blank slate of a new year and being mindful of the goals I want to achieve over the next 365 days and after the bombshell that was 2016, I’m ready to make 2017 the best one yet!

So let's talk about starting the day off with purpose. It's a tough one. As a Mama of three littlies, getting myself up and sorted while getting them up and sorted is no mean feat. But I’ve found that my most successful days begin with a happy morning. Don't get me wrong, it ain't easy to unleash your inner fashionista when you’re running after toddlers, in nothing but a wet towel with only 15 minutes to spare. Story of my life! But when I put a bit of time and a little thought into my morning routine and specifically picking out an outfit, something magical happens. Not only am I a more confident, better version of me that day, but I look my best and I feel good too. When getting dressed is fun and easy, it starts your day off on the best foot possible. And I want that for ALL women.

So here's my simple tips for creating a fabulous morning routine that’ll get you out the door feeling together and the best version of yourself.

* Get your stuff easily and readily available. Sounds basic, but honestly, stumbling around looking for the other shoe and that belt that goes with those trousers, at the eleventh hour is enough to piss anyone off at 7am. Give yourself the gift of easy access.

* Instead of grabbing black, grab a bright colour instead. I know that black and neutrals can feel safe but try to step out of your comfort zone and go for something bright. It can be as simple as a scarf, a pair of earrings or some quirky shoes, but I guarantee that it will not only brighten your outfit, but your day as well.

* Allocate yourself an extra 10 minutes in the morning. It’s amazing how much you can cram in to that extra few minutes, whether it be to skull another coffee, meditate or tick a few things off your to-do list. Be kind to yourself and it’ll set the tone for your day.

* Lay out one or two items the night before. Instead of selecting your entire outfit the night before, why not take the pressure off and just choose one or two pieces to work with in the morning – like a a skirt and heels combo. That way all you have to do is choose the pairing pieces that fit your mood or the weather and be on your way. We all know the stress of waking up, whipping on that pre-selected outfit only to hate it. So this helps give you a morning push, while still offering space for creativity.

There’s nothing like some quick fixes and morning affirmations to make you feel great and add some extra pep in your step to make the day ahead feel easy, well thought-out and inspired.
