Growth and greater confidence

Last week I went to my usual gym class - I take Sculpt and Fusion and love them both, but when I first started, it was a step out of my comfort zone.

It’d been years since my ass was in a gym and I didn’t wanna look ridiculous, feel exposed or inadequate, so I took a spot in the very back corner of the room.

And that’s where I stayed for 4 months.

That is until a week ago.

I didn’t realise it, but my convenient little corner had become comfortable and safe.

I knew what I would experience in that space. But that’s NOT what going to the gym is all about. Not for me anyway. I’m there to push myself, physically AND mentally. I’m there to take control of my body and my mind. To better my health. To start giving myself more of what I deserve - time.

So I decided to step out of my comfort zone AGAIN and plonked myself smack bang in the middle of the room - granted it was a small change but sometimes small can be huge.

And just like that, my perspective changed.

As the class started I realised how a simple shift (both physically and mentally) had been a milestone for me. It was a stepping stone to greater confidence and a feeling of being in control.

And that’s what I want for all of you.

New perspective, even in the simplest of ways, can have an incredible impact on our self image, confidence and inner workings. When we avoid change we avoid growth.
