You are not here to get skinny

I think most women, at some stage, or perhaps all stages of their lives, have been fixated on their body.

Whether it be weight, shape or size, we have all been involved, sucked in or a participant in diet culture, indirectly or otherwise.

If you're unfamiliar with the term, 'diet culture' is a belief system that focuses on and values weight, shape, and size over well-being.

There are, of course, variations of diet culture, such as rigid eating patterns, that on the surface, are in the name of health, but in reality are purely about weight and size.

The message it promotes is that losing weight (by any means necessary) will make you happier and healthier; and restricting your eating and eliminating food groups will make you feel better.

Dangerously false.

I see women taking part in crazy, unhealthy, even dangerous diet behaviours in the name of 'health', when in reality it's actually just about shedding pounds.

THAT is NOT healthy. And it WILL NOT make you happy.

You are not here to get skinny.

Clock out of diet culture and focus on wellbeing.
